Voices is a blog format that was created by the Alliance of International Production Houses member theatres in the phase of the Covid pandemic when artists had few opportunities to give live performances. The blog is designed to create an open space in the digital realm where artists can give expression to their diverse voices on special events.
The crisis triggered by Covid-19 hits artists worldwide hard and directly. For our blog Voices we have invited international artists who are currently unable to work in our production houses to make statements about their current, individual and artistic situation. Berlin, 05/2020 +
The edition of Voices Ukraine was initially planned before the full military invasion of Russia in Ukraine. The idea behind it was to create an archive of the stories of Ukrainian artists and cultural workers who were living with the constant fear of an attack on their country. +
Under the title Voices Iran, we have launched an online gallery designed to provide a forum for submissions from Iranian artists. In doing so, we hope to call greater attention to the struggles and dangers these individuals face. We are also eager to show our solidarity with prisoners and protesters in Iran, in this case by inviting Iranian artists to contribute their work to an ever-growing online platform. Our ultimate goal is to ensure that the protest maintains its visibility and continues to form a key part of the public discourse. +
