Bed-In
The bed is more than just a piece of furniture. As the scene of birth, love, illness and death, the bed is a favourite artistic motif - both in the visual and performative arts. The foyer installation BED-IN invites visitors to experience the bed not only as a place to sleep, but also as a place of togetherness, politics and resistance. The bed was recognised as an experimental form of non-violent protest by Yoko Ono and John Lennon as early as 1969. The Vietnam War may be over, but other wars continue. And there are many more reasons not to sleep peacefully - the participatory installation offers the opportunity to name these reasons and to further explore and utilise the bed as a political and interpersonal space. Let's stay woke together!
