Témoin
20 urban dancers channel their collective energies in an explosive dance piece by renowned urban choreographer Saïdo Lehlouh. Témoin is part of a work process that Saïdo Lehlouh has been developing for several years. Here, 20 dancers are dedicated to an equipoised game veering between energy, personality, and decision-making, to shape a collective dance that springs into existence in a moment’s vibrancy. Holding the group together is their strong shared theme: Gathering dancers with different styles, who generally learned their dances far removed from any academic educational context, bringing them together in a certain place and at a certain time in order to turn the vibration and energy of their meeting into the centre of a choreography.
Saïdo Lehlouh, who originally came from b-boying, expands the field in Témoin by including numerous influences that transcend hip-hop while informing the careers of the dancers assembled here. Due to the uniqueness of the dancers and their way of playing the game of improvisation, the piece comes up in a dynamism of deep listening and encounter. Saïdo Lehlouh, Bad Trip Crew breaker, is known for his slinky feline style that blends fluidity and finesse with authenticity. Saïdo Lehlouh is a regular guest at tanzhaus nrw. His most recent showing at tanzhaus nrw was his performance The Dancing, a participatory gathering of dancers in Düsseldorf's urban space. Témoin is a community of breakers creating the experience within the beauty of an instinctive and spontaneous hip-hop dance.
